#23 - This week: Doctor Faustus

Wow. Dark.
Good, but dark. With some comedy.
I've seen it on stage before, but reading it is different.
I liked it, but I've always liked Marlowe. My only problem is that it didn't seem to go anywhere. Faustus makes his deal with the devil, plays around with his power, dies. The struggle between good and evil just didn't read very strong. Of course, it's a whole new legion of demons when it's on stage.

#25 - Saving $$

So I finally set up the auto withdrawl and transferred the backdated funds. We're good to go! Expensive trips, here I come!

*shaking head*
I'm going to be so broke...

#23 Last week

Alright, I know I'm a little behind, but I've been in production!

I am counting "Ina gardon of hedons, baby" as a play I have read. Because in order to work on a script, one must read that script. And I read it multiple times last week.

I really liked it, and I really liked working on it. I think my favorite was This is Sanctuary. For some reason, I really liked the writing. The main character, Ash, was so odd and yet so real and deep and smart. Most people would be put off by the subject matter (incest) and I would too, normally. It was presented in such a way that it wasn't creepy. From his point of view, he was just coming of age and discovering life and love. It's just that he was in love with his sister. It wasn't creepy, evil, abusive sex; it was just some really misguided affection. I'm not condoning incest, by any stretch, I'm just saying this is the first time it hasn't creeped me out.

Altar boys was another piece of this show that I really enjoyed. A little more off the wall, but an interesting story as a whole and some very funny characters. My favorite part was holding the world still.

And what's a good flashback without a bad kung-fu movie scene? (complete with bad dubbing I might add!) So funny and so out of the blue!

Princess Leia's Buns and the Skyrockers. Their music sounds nothing like the name leads you to think. It was deep and moving and beautiful. I could have listened to them play all night.

The Wild Rose girls were a handful of goodness. Burlesque is not dead, and I'm glad.

It was a riot to work on, we pulled the whole thing right out of our asses and it turned out great!
Too bad it was a one shot, I'd have liked to have done it again.
